The HCA's New DE&I Framework

Tuesday 5th April 2022: Today we launched the HCA’s new DE&I Framework to advancing your DE&I journey. Embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) into your organisation: the HCA’s framework to advancing your DE&I journey has been created as a roadmap to guide both individuals and organisations in their own DE&I efforts. The Framework encourages us all to move beyond conversations to actions that have an impact, both in our internal and external interactions.

“For successful and sustainable change to happen, intent should always be accompanied by robust preparation. The same is true of meaningful DE&I efforts – having a clear framework to form a visible steer and point of reference will make success much more likely.”  explained Alice Choi, HCA Chair and Chief Operating Officer, McCann Health Medical Communications.

Afua Basoah, HCA’s DE&I Non-Exec and Head of Health Strategy, RAPP continued: “A framework can serve as a point of reference to help anchor and steer DE&I efforts. Given that every organisation will be at different stages of their journey and have different capabilities at their disposal, it helps to have a roadmap that indicates the short-, mid- and long-term factors that will contribute to improved DE&I outcomes.”

As we work to embed this essential thinking more across Healthcare Communications, it will be important to identify quick wins, embrace the power of collaboration, and avoid tried and tested pitfalls.

The HCA will continue to run sessions on how DE&I efforts can be implemented in practice and hopes to cultivate, empower, and celebrate inclusive organisations that value diverse demographics, experiences and thinking. #TogetherForBetter
