Apprenticeship Event

General information
The HCA has been trying to drive an initiative to encourage Apprenticeships within our sector. We are aiming to take a facilitation role in bringing together member companies to work in partnership with an identified main provider and training organisation so we will can tailor the study undertaken by apprentices in our sector to their healthcare communications role.

The new apprenticeship programme was launched by the government in April 2017, all businesses with a payroll greater than £3 million pounds a year are paying 0.5% into a levy fund which can be used to upskill and train staff. Even those employers who do not pay into the levy may make use of it, they will only have to contribute 5% of the cost of funding apprenticeships.

Choosing to upskill your staff is a productive and effective way for a business to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. Employers who have an established apprenticeship programme reported that productivity in their workplace had improved by 76% whilst 75% reported that apprenticeships improved the quality of their product or service. Other benefits that apprenticeships contribute towards include: – increasing employee satisfaction – reducing staff turnover – reducing recruitment costs. Please read the attached document which further outlines the benefits of the apprenticeship programme.

We hope you will be interested in discussing this further with our partners Oxford Professional Education Group and our main provider Fareport.

The Oxford Professional Education Group have been training and upskilling professionals for more than 20 years. They have developed a unique programme for organisations, using the apprenticeship system, to maximise the value of apprenticeships both for employers and employees. Fareport have 30 years’ experience in the Apprenticeships and work-based learning arena and are an OFSTED grade 1 "Outstanding" provider.

We are holding a roundtable discussion on 19th June, 9.30-11.30am kindly hosted by Hanover at their offices 70 Gray's Inn Road, London WC1X 8BT.  We hope either yourself or a colleague is able to join this discussion.
