Biography: Jade Parker
Jade is a medical journalist, specialising in oncology and artificial intelligence. She is currently a Senior Editor at Future Science Group where she works on the editorial, commercial and marketing strategies for prominent digital content hubs. These content hubs provide a platform to unite a global network of stakeholders by providing an array of educational resources, spanning from breaking news to multimedia content and journal features.
Her interest in medical sciences kickstarted at the Royal Veterinary College, where she studied BioVeterinary Science. From there she completed internships at several London-based newspapers before traveling to China to complete a 3-month residency where she worked on curating China International Cities Index (CICI) reports. Returning to the UK, Jade began her career in publishing as a Commissioning Editor for several high-profile peer-reviewed journals, such as Future Oncology, before moving into digital scicomms.
On a day-to-day basis, she manages all digital communications for Oncology Central, including commissioning content from key opinion leaders, writing news, curating in-depth articles and managing the brand’s social media presence. Within the artificial intelligence sphere, she has project managed the launch of a pioneering joint journal and digital hub - Future Medicine AI. Building a digital brand from scratch enabled Jade to gain a holistic view of how to ensure content is designed with the individual user in mind.
Beyond her core role, she is a volunteer Peer Reviewer for Plain Language Summary articles, an initiative aimed at distilling intricate and complex clinical trial results into accessible formats for patients and their caregivers. Additionally, she is a freelance scientific writer and perhaps the most demanding role of all, a full-time mother!
