The HCA is proud to be an official supporter of LIFELINE the Musical!

LIFELINE the Musical

We are delighted to finally be able to announce something we are so excited to be involved with. As World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (18–24 November) highlights the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the creators of LIFELINE announce the musical's London run at Southwark Playhouse Elephant (28 March–2 May 2026). And the Healthcare Communications Association is so proud to be one of the official supporters of this amazing production! LIFELINE The Musical

The musical has already captivated audiences at two sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and achieved off-Broadway success. In 2024, it made history as the first musical ever performed on the floor of the United Nations (UN). The musical weaves together Sir Alexander Fleming's groundbreaking discovery of penicillin with the story of Jess, a junior doctor navigating the pressures of an overstretched NHS while her childhood sweetheart fights a drug-resistant infection. Bringing the important topic of AMR into stories about everyday lives, LIFELINE uses the extraordinary power of the Arts to move hearts and minds, encouraging us all to act quickly, before it is too late.

But what is also so unique about LIFELINE is that the chorus is made up of those working in and around AMR every day - nurses, doctors, pharmacists, vets, dentists, microbiologists and policymakers with roles connected to antibiotics or working on AMR.

Do you know somebody who would like to join the chorus?

The production seeks anybody from these groups to audition for the revolving chorus who will perform alongside the professional West End cast for one week of the production. They will share their remarkable – and true – stories with audiences every night during the run as LIFELINE celebrates the everyday people who make the extraordinary happen.

In announcing HCA’s involvement in LIFELINE, HCA CEO Mike Dixon comments: “As communicators we are delighted to be an official supporter of such a fantastic concept that is using musical theatre to share an important health message to all. The quality of this production, its music, and the unique participation of those working in the fight against AMR as the chorus, makes LIFELINE an event not to be missed. Tell your friends and family, shout about it on socials, and if you know somebody in a profession associated with AMR, please encourage them to audition.”
