General information

Environmental sustainability is one of the great challenges of our age. Whether in an agency or in-house, meeting the challenge is complex and hard. It requires change to business practices and communications. It affects reputation and access to customers and contracts.

Watch back to hear from four leading voices on meeting the environmental sustainability challenge in our sector:

  • Juliette White CBE - Former Vice President, Global SHE and Sustainability, AZ
  • Jackie Marchington - Head of Compliance and Ethics, IPG Health Medical Communications
  • Paul French - Former Director, Global Strategic Communications at BMS
  • Richard White - Chief Operating Officer, Oxford PharmaGenesis

HCA believes a collaborative approach is needed between biopharma procurement, day to-day clients and agencies on how to collectively achieve carbon reduction goals. HCA recently launched Going Green, a report giving insights into progress towards environmental sustainability in our industry. Drawing on interviews with agency and in-house communication leaders, it highlighted positive actions on environmental sustainability but a mixed picture on progress overall. It revealed a significant variation reported by biopharma and agencies on readiness and priority given to environmental sustainability, an inconsistency in the supplier accreditation requirements set by biopharma client companies to measure performance on environmental sustainability, and more.

HCA's ongoing Business Partnerships initiative is also seeking to drive a more collaborative approach between these three partners.

The Webinar was hosted by Andrew Harrison, independent communications adviser, and Charlotte Maule, Director at Anthem PR - members of HCA's Foresight Committee
