Delivering High-Impact Leadership Communication in a Complex World
If the global COVID-19 pandemic turned on its head a range of assumptions about how the world works and ripped up many of the accepted rules of business life, the pressures facing leaders of all kinds have only intensified since the end of the lockdown era.
Indeed, those leaders now face an ‘expectation tsunami’ from their employees, customers – investors and communities – from diversity, inclusion, mental health and employee wellbeing to ethics, transparency and accountability – all amplified by 24/7 media scrutiny and constant social media chatter.
At the same time, unprecedented levels of complexity, uncertainty, turbulence and risk – from geopolitics, economics and cyber(in)security to misinformation and polarisation – mean that deft, effective leadership has never been at a greater premium, with high-impact communication a more essential ingredient of that leadership than ever.
The Course
In this fast-moving, high-pressure environment, this interactive, half-day training course will equip delegates with the leadership communication skills, capabilities and confidence needed to rise to those challenges in 2025 and beyond. The session will:
- Consider the key findings of a major report, recently released by your trainer, Rod Cartwright – called 'Reputation, risk and resilience: where are we now what happens next?' – in which he summarised and analysed eleven major global reports on those interlocking topics over the past 12 months.
- Draw on the practical insights from an annual, global, five-year study, which explored the views of over 25,000 people on effective leadership, effective communication and the umbilical link between the two
- Arm participants with a practical seven-part model for effective leadership communication, centred on the alignment of words, deeds and personal presence
- Focus on delivering leadership communication which informs, educates, motivates and inspires – appealing to head and heart to drive positive behaviour change amid constant change
- Encompass elements of behavioural psychology, neuroscience and storytelling
- Include a practical group exercise, allowing participants to put key training insights into practice in real time
- Provide participants with a practical leave behind, including key questions to ask themselves
This course is run by leadership communication specialist, Rod Cartwright (FPRCA/FRSA), Principal, Rod Cartwright Consulting, CIPR Independent PR Practitioner of the Year 2025, and a Visiting Fellow at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture.
